As Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin worked the media circuit defending her experience and fitness to lead, Alaskan lawmakers subpoenaed her husband earlier today over charges of abuse of power.
After a 5-3 vote by the Alaska Senate Judiciary Committe, a formal subpoena was issued for Todd Palin over whether his wife abused her power by firing the state’s director of public safety for refusing to terminate Mike Wooten, a state trooper who had recently divorced the governor’s sister. Subpoenas were also issued for Palin’s chief of staff and deputy chief of staff.
Republican officials had attempted to delay the investigation until after the November 4th elections, but Senator Charlie Huggins rejected that effort, saying “Let’s just get the facts on the table”.
Sarah Palin agreed to be interviewed directly by investigators in exchange for avoiding a formal subpoena.
“There is nothing to hide,” Palin argued during a recent interview with ABC’s Charles Gibson.
