A Rasmussen survey recently concluded that more than 2/3rds of those polled are at least somewhat angry over the current policies in place in Washington D.C., and cited almost 50% who were “very angry” at Washington bureaucrats. While Americans have every right to be upset over how our government values freedom and liberty, their anger is gravely misplaced.
The people should not be angry with the federal government. Governments, after all, naturally push the limits of power and legal restraint. Rather, Americans need to be angry with themselves, who continue to stand as the group of individuals who support and enable, through the voting booths, the current size, scope and influence of our government.
If the people were really this upset, they would do something about it. If the people were really that angry, they need to quit voting for the “lesser of two evils” and instead demand a quality candidate who really does place the Constitution above the consolidation of money and power into the hands of select politicians.
But Americans are falling down on the job. Instead of expressing their anger through the voting booths by throwing out career politicians, they continue voting the way they always have, and as a result, we continue getting the same government, run by the same group of bureaucrats, year after year.
If you own a restaurant and your head chef has shown a pattern of serving undercooked meat, you have a choice to make. You can either keep that head chef employed and continue to complain about his clearly inferior ability to serve properly cooked meat, or you can replace that chef with someone more competent and willing to do the job. Getting angry does not change the results of the situation. Doing something about it does.
I understand that it is easier for the American people to get angry with politicians than it is their own voting pattern. After all, people naturally want to avoid placing blame on their own backs whenever possible. But the fact remains that our government is only as powerful as we let it get. It is only as corrupt as we allow it to be. This is our government.
Speak with your votes; stop electing the same old bureaucrats year after year, and watch what happens.
