How about you not take what the Senator said to its utmost extreme. Chris Dodd did not endorse giving government money for drugs. What he essentially said is that even drug addicts need money for the essentials of life if they cannot work, same as everyone else. I am guessing if he had more time he would have went on to suggest that we should spend more money as a nation finding ways to treat those with drug habits so welfare isn't wasted on drugs as well as improve and safeguard welfare so it cannot be used to buy drugs. To carry his comments - which he did not have time to fully develop to there logical extreme is disingenous.
