Dr. Savage is more educated than any other radio talk show host. He has two masters degrees and a doctorate. He has traveled the world, living with the local peoples of such places as Fiji, studying various cultures and learning about natural remedies. In the early eighties, he was one of the first to warn about the dangers of drugging the children of this country. He wrote "Healing Children Naturally" and other books about 'alternative' therapies, which shows how far ahead of the curve he really was. He feels this is the outcome of drug companies peddling their ideas and drugs to us: Now 1 in 150 children is 'autistic'. The numbers of children who actually have autism, add, and other horribly debilitating problems has been inflated in order to line pharmaceutical's pockets. He acknowledges these diseases and prays for those suffering with them. He even recommends drugs for the severely afflicted. However, what are those drugs (some of them experimental) doing to the children who can already lead a full life by merely being raised in a more strict environment?

Edgar:

I see you weren't listening to the show that Savage's comments were taken from. If you had been, you could answer these accusations yourself. This is why I recommend listening to his show. The only way you can come to understand him is by listening to him. I myself disagree with Savage on many points, as he is religious and I do not believe in God. He is severely anti-union, where I belong to Painter's Local #10 here in Portland, OR, a town Savage hates almost as much as S.F. In other words, I disagree with him, but still understand what his point of view is. I only tell you this to illustrate that I am not a follower of Dr Savage's, only an every-other-day listener. By listening to Savage since 9/11, I know his opinions. I will be honest and tell you that I wasn't listening to the show in question, either. But I've heard him enough that when I see a headline saying "Savage says 99% of autistic children are faking it!", I know that he said much more than that. He often says things that a first-time listener would take offense to, but sometimes he gets distracted by his own monologue and doesn't explain himself fully. However, he also repeats himself ALOT and that is why I urge you to listen. He will address all your questions and accusations...eventually.

Jorge, you keep avoiding the issue at hand.

Savage insulted and attacked children to make a point. That's totally inexcusable. That was a fact. There was no taking his words out of context, at all. The context was clear. He wanted to make a point that kids that are diagnosed with Autism are fakers (995 of them). And he did that by insulting those kids in an incredibly insensitive and cruel manner. Did he not called them morons, idiots and brats that need to cut the act out?. He did, Jorge. He definitely did.

When a coward like Savage insults children on National Radio, and then REFUSES to take back those insults made to those same children, you know that you're dealing with a special kind of scum.

Now Jorge, you and the "Savage Nation" keep trying to convince the world that it was okay to insult and degrade those infants. Because according to you people:

1. Savage has a relative that suffers Autism so in his/your screwed-up mind, it makes it permissible to attack people with that very illness.

2. He simply wanted to make a point about the corruption within the medical profession (by insulting children?).

3. He will talk about it on his Radio show. Trying (desperately) to save face and to keep trying to convince people that Autism, like ADD, is nothing but a scam.

However, like I've said over and over again... there is no excuse whatsoever that makes it alright to insult children. And he could've attacked the pharms directly instead. Why didn't he? Oh, because it's easier to attack defenseless infants.

Now... If you happen to know of a valid excuse to victimize, abuse and insult children of a tender age... then please let me know.

Edgar:

We're in luck! Dr Savage has posted 20 audio clips containing statements he's made about autism in the last year. Now you won't have to do the research I recommended to you. Here is an excerpt from a statement on the webpage:

The Network commenced this discussion [on autism] in the July 21st and 22nd [2008] broadcasts of The Michael Savage Show. For those who believe that the 84 seconds cited by Media Matters defines Michael Savage's views on autism, the Network recommends going to (or clicking) http://www.savageonautism.com/ to view a representative sampling of Dr. Savage's views, as well as the applicable issues, in true context.

Let me know what you think.

Edgar:

Dr. Savage does not need to cook up a story to explain what you do not understand. In his book The Enemy Within he describes growing up with a handicap brother. I don't recall what chapter it is, but I suggest you read that portion of his book. You may see him in a different light then. As I say, he has already refuted your arguments and answered your questions. Besides his 4 bestselling books, you can also get podcasts off iTunes for free.

Here we go again with the two weeks argument... Dang!

Listen, once again I'll have to repeat myself that there is no excuse, no freakin' life story that Savage could ever, EVER come up with in TWO WEEKS or TWO CENTURIES, that would make it alright to insult children. Especially children who suffer a debilitating and devastating illness such as Autism.

I may not know Savage personally, but if he goes around saying that 99% of children that have been diagnosed with Autism are fakers (and on top of that, attacks and insults those children for having the audacity of suffering said illness), then there is no freakin' need to know the man in person. His words speak for themselves.

All the criticism he's getting either from the conservative/liberal media and the population in general (by a great majority of them may I add), he deserves fully.

So, quit trying to convince me that Savage is going to cook up some tearful life story in the next two weeks. He may well do that.

But the fact remains that he insulted and attacked children. It is THAT VERY FACT ALONE that got the people all railed up against him. Especially because he refuses to take back those insults made to those children. If only he had the cojones to admit he made that mistake, I would have some respect for the man.

But as for right now, he's nothing more than a coward that attacks those that cannot fight back.

Edgar:

Dr Savage has refuted every claim in past shows that you've made here so far. He will most likely repeat his childhood stories and explain his conclusions again in shows coming up. I encourage you to listen to The Savage Nation for two weeks. Most, if not all, of your opinions will then be different. Even if we still disagree about him, your opinions will be stronger after listening for two solid weeks. Either way you benefit. I don't know you and will not assume I know where you're coming from, just as you don't know where Savage is coming from. Hope to hear from you in two weeks.

Jorge, what the heck makes you think I haven't listened to his show before? You make assumptions about me like only a maniac would make. I mean, you say that I don't give him (and even deny him) any air time. It seems you pretty much imagined what motivated me to write on this comments section. According to you, I place my fingers on my ears and go "la-la-la-la! I don't wanna hear you, Mr. Savage!".

Don't be silly... My point was crystal clear. There is no excuse possible, none whatsoever, to make it permissible to even consider attacking children. Savage (or Mr. Weiner to those of us that know about him), was trying to make a point about the corruption among the pharms. The problem was, that instead of attacking the ones he was outing to the world as corrupt, he attacked those who cannot fight back: the children. The ones that are suppose to be the victims of that Autism scam Savage talks about. Way to go Savage! Abuse those children as much as the pharms do!

Now you can try and portray Savage as some sort of saint worthy of respect and understanding, if only more people would listen to his angry rants... but the fact of the matter is that none of that can possibly redeem his stupidity when he decided to call innocent infants "morons", "screaming idiots" and "brats"... all of whom, according to Savage, are faking an illness that you wouldn't wish on your own worse enemies.

If you wanna stick to your guns and say that Savage can bitch-slap children in order to make a point, then my friend, we have absolutely nothing to talk about. Nothing at all.

Edgar:

Try listening to the Michael Savage show for two weeks, then post your opinions about the man. I know you probably don't want to give Savage any air time, but you know that one more radio tuned into his show for two weeks won't make or break the man. Just listen. You won't agree with everything he says, but your opinion of the man will be tempered with the facts and life experiences of him. If you don't bother listening to him, then your opinions are just as empty as you claim his to be.

I expected no less from a "a regular guest on the award-winning Michael Savage Show".

It was a worthless effort made by Selwyn Duke, though. Because anybody who doesn't consider Michael Weiner (Savage) a close personal friend, understands fully that he attacked the children who suffer autism DIRECTLY.

Did he not call them brats?

Did he not call them putzes (try finding the definition of PUTZ, a Yiddish insult)?

Did he not call them screaming idiots?

Did he not questioned the manhood of the children who suffer autism and who are mostly male (act like a man, he said)?

Don’t fool yourself, Selwyn. And don’t even try fooling everyone else. Mr. Michael Weiner (Savage) ATTACKED THE KIDS WITH AUTISM. Make no mistake about it.

If he wanted to make a commentary about the corrupt medical professionals, he should’ve attacked them directly.

But instead, he attacked the children WHO CAN’T DEFEND THEMSELVES AND CANNOT BE BLAMED FOR EITHER BEING MISDIAGNOSED (as Savage and some other fugitives from the dark ages claim) OR BEING VICTIMS OF A PROVEN BRAIN DISORDER (as everyone who is well informed knows as being fact).

Selwyn... you fail. Big time.
