The difference between Michael Moore and George W. Bush
By: Doug Hagin | Published on 06/30/04

What an interesting and historic day June 28, 2004 turned out to be. Iraq was given a new birth of freedom as the United States turned over control of the nation to the new Iraqi government. It is surely not everyday when a nation gets a fresh start at being a free and prosperous nation.

Now we all are aware the road from our initial invasion of Iraq last year to the present has not been easy or free. And we must also be aware the road from here to early next year when Iraq holds its first elections will not be a picnic either. As President Bush has told us repeatedly there is tough work ahead, but rest assured that tough work is worth the benefits to be reaped from it.

There is no price which can be fairly placed upon the impact on the Middle East and the War on Terror by a democratic Iraq. If, for instance, in 50 or 100 years - if there is peace and stability in the region - there will be one nation to thank, the United States. And indeed one man, President Bush, will be credited with changing history and bringing freedom to millions of Arabs.

So yes we may look back upon June 28, 2004 one day as Iraq?s independence day and the beginning of peace in the formerly turbulent region. How strange then, that on this historic day, another man, very different in character and ideology from President Bush, was also enjoying great success.

Michael Moore, who obviously loathes the ground George W. Bush walks on, saw his crockumentary, Fahrenheit 911, breaking records for ticket sales on June 28. How odd this is. Moore?s film was breaking box office marks for documentaries (or in the case of Fahrenheit 911, a crockumentary) while the very lies the film espouses was being proven dead wrong by events in Iraq. If you have had the great fortune not to see Moore?s film then be sure it is not worth your time or money. It is a typical Michael Moore adventure in anti-Bush, anti-military, anti-Americanism and anti-common sense.

The film tries to perpetuate the same lies the extreme left has been trying to sell us for months now. The film lies about connections between Bush and the Carlyle Group. It lies about connections between Bush and Saudi Arabia. It lies about favors done by the Bush Administration for Saudi Arabia such as the lie that Bush allowed the Bin Laden family to fly out of the country while air traffic was grounded after 9-11.

The film, like Moore?s other films, is a tissue of lies, half-truths, exaggerations, and falsehoods. That this film is labeled a documentary suggests it is, somehow, factual.

It is anything but factual my friends.

The film is a disgusting display of Moore?s hatred for George Bush and for America and its ideals of capitalism and freedom. The film mocks the intelligence and decency of our brave troops which are currently fighting terrorists in Iraq. It shows wounded Iraqi children then cuts to American troops high-fiving and listening to heavy metal music, giving the impression that our troops are celebrating harming Iraqi children.

The truth is these clips are completely unrelated and have been spliced together to give the impression Moore wants us to get. How pathetic is it that Moore would seek to defame our troops while they are fighting for all our freedoms, including Michael Moore?s!

Moore also uses the grieving families of slain soldiers to attempt to fool us into believing Bush lied to us to lead America into an unjust war for oil. Again, typical tactics from Mr. Moore. He has exposed himself, and his motives as clearly anti-American over and again. Consider Mr. Moore?s true feelings about the American nation and her people.

Moore recently told The Mirror his thoughts on American intellect; ? They are, possibly, the dumbest people on the planet.? Moore did not stop there though. He went on to say American?s ?stupidity is embarrassing.?

Hmmm, seems Michael Moore has a definite negative view of America doesn?t it? Consider these remarks made I Germany: ? That's why we're smiling all the time.? You can see us coming down the street. You know, 'Hey! Hi! How's it going?' We've got that big [expletive] grin on our face all the time because our brains aren't loaded down.? Or how about this little bit of love from Moore speaking in Cambridge. ?You're stuck with being connected to this country of mine which is known for bringing sadness and misery to places around the globe.?

Really now?

The same America which just gave hundreds of lives to free Iraq? The same America which gives far more in charitable donations than any other nation on earth? The same America which so many people want to come to?

Finally let us look at Moore?s feelings about the 9-11 attacks and those fighting our troops in Iraq. ?We, the United States of America, are culpable in committing so many acts of terror and bloodshed that we had better get a clue about the culture of violence in which we have been active participants."

So according to Michael Moore 9-11 was our fault?

Finally this comparison by Moore of our Founders and the terrorists in Iraq. ?The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win.?

So now we know the difference between men like George W. Bush and men like Michael Moore. One loves America, the other...?
