Sheehan's family asks Cindy to stop

WASHINGTON, Aug. 11, 2005 - The family of Cindy Sheehan has broken its silence by issuing a statement pleading for Cindy to cool her rhetoric and truly honor her son's service to this country.

Cindy Sheehan, understandably upset over her son's death in Iraq, has been outspoken against President Bush and the war in Iraq, accusing Bush of going to war with Iraq only to enrich his "oil buddies". She has camped out for days near President Bush's ranch in Crawford, TX, protesting the war and the president's policies.

The family, claiming to be "so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy", released this statement today to the Drudge Report:

"The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins."

Casey Sheehan re-enlisted last August and planned to make a career in the military. According to his father, Casey "loved the Army because it gave him a chance to serve his country."
