SmallGovTimes.comTony Snow refutes reports of liver cancer By: SGT News | Published on 04/12/07 During an unannounced visit on Bill O'Reilly's “Radio Factor” radio program on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said that he does not have liver cancer and he plans on returning to work after his recovery from surgery. "I'm feeling great," Snow said after undergoing surgery to remove tumors from his abdomen two weeks ago. "Some of this has been misreported," he told Bill. "I do not have liver cancer. There are a number of small tumors that are in my abdominal cavity; they have not hit any other organs.” Snow continued by saying no tumors are traveling through his blood stream, which can indicate a more serious medical condition. According to Snow, doctors intend on putting him through chemotherapy to "drive this sucker into remission." "If it didn't grow anymore from now until the time I died, it would be absolutely fine," he said. "It's not threatening my life," Snow added. The President's spokesman, 51, has battled cancer for a number of years, starting in 2005 with the removal of his colon in response to colon cancer, where he underwent several months of chemotherapy. Colon cancer is the third most common type of cancer in the United States and ranks second in cancers that cause death. Every year, an estimated 50,000 men and women die from colon cancer, although it is more prevalent in older men. In late March, President Bush expressed confidence in Tony Snow's ability to fight his health complications and return to work. “He is not going to let this whip him,” Bush said, adding that Snow is upbeat about his future. "And so my message to Tony is, 'Stay strong; a lot of people love you and care for you and will pray for you.'" Original URL: http://www.smallgovtimes.com/story/07apr12.tony.snow.cancer/index.html |
