We know that poverty and overpopulation affect us all." Richardson called on the United States to take a leading role in further meddling in the affairs of overseas nations and spending taxpayer money on issues of all kinds, including: * Investment in the World Bank debt relief effort * Sustainable energy * Food production * Cross-border crime He also praised the United Nations and said the organization stands as a “necessary and important framework” for international cooperation on these and many other issues. "We must reform and invigorate it," he added. Richardson, a former UN ambassador, also took the opportunity to jab his Democratic opponents. "My colleagues in this race have my respect, but it is a simple fact that the next international deal negotiated by any of them will be their first."
