SmallGovTimes.comFairFax bill gets 65th co-sponsor By: John Linder | Published on 09/28/07 Congressman John Linder (GA-07) announced today that his revolutionary tax reform legislation, the FairTax, has reached 65 co-sponsors with the addition of Representative Mary Fallin (OK-05). This establishes a new record number of co-sponsors for the FairTax, merely nine months into the 110th Congress. “We have seen extraordinary traction this year. Grassroots support across the nation is motivating Members to study the FairTax and decide whether they are going to be for the bill or against the bill. I certainly appreciate Representative Fallin’s support, although I cannot take credit for her signature, it was her constituency.” The FairTax is the most highly co-sponsored piece of tax reform legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives, out-numbering its closest competition, the Freedom Flat Tax, by 59 co-sponsors. In fact, the FairTax has more co-sponsors than any other piece of tax reform legislation proposed in over three decades. “I believe this is just the beginning. I can’t go anywhere anymore without someone asking me how the FairTax is doing. People are paying attention and they are looking for ideas in which to believe. The FairTax is one that really resonates and creates excitement. We are working to reach 100 co-sponsors in the 110th Congress, and once we do that the politicians in Washington will have no choice but to listen. I have said many times, the people are way ahead of the politicians on this issue.” Congressman Linder also expressed his appreciation to Representative Frank Lucas (OK-03) for being the 64th co-sponsor of H.R. 25, signing on to the bill on September 10, 2007.
