Voter ID amendment ready for Senate floor debate

As expected, a Missouri Senate committee this afternoon approved a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow lawmakers to impose photo-ID requirements on voters.

The proposal now can be debated on the Senate Floor as early as tomorrow.

Afterward, Sen. Delbert Scott, a Clinton Republican and the measure’s handler, said Republican and Democrat leaders would meet informally later today to discuss the highly partisan issue and attempt to work out an agreement to get the bill passed.
