McCain, Romney spar in California debate
By: SGT News | Submitted on: 01/30/08SOUTHERN ARIZONA (SGT NEWS) - Sitting behind a glass table, GOP front runners John McCain and Mitt Romney battled each other during the CNN/Politico-sponsored debate Wednesday evening over whether or not Romney supported a timetable to withdrawal from Iraq.
According to Romney, timetables that he supported exist only to judge the number of troops on the ground and their collective responsibilities, not to serve as a timetable for withdrawal.
We've had 10 or 12 debates and he's never raised that issue with me, Romney said of John McCain. It's an attempt to do the Washington style old politics just throw it out there and get it in the media.
It is simply wrong, Romney added.
