House inks $165 Billion war bill

By: SGT News | Submitted on: 06/18/08

SOUTHERN ARIZONA (SGT NEWS) - President Bush is believed to be preparing to sign a war funding bill that will cost American taxpayers more than $165 billion dollars.

The bill also includes other spending measures, including relief assistance to flood victims in the Midwest, an extension of unemployment benefits and an increase in GI Bill payments for veterans.

The bill dogged members of the House for many months as specifics were debated and veto threats issued from the President over the inclusion of GI Bill provisions. Some Democrats argue the GI Bill increases will add more than $60 billion to the deficit without any means to pay for it.
