Fireworks detonate as the USNS Amelia Earhart is christened during a nighttime ceremony at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, April 6, 2008. The ship is named after the aviation pioneer who in 1932 became the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic.

McCain’s Spanish language web site top news
By: Steve Adcock | Submitted on: 05/05/08EDITORIAL - Adding to the utter uselessness of the mainstream media, it is apparently top news that John McCain launched a Spanish-language web site today in an effort to pander to Hispanics and, perhaps, the illegal immigrants that he tried to save several months ago.
What the mainstream media does not discuss is the trouble that the United States of America is in with the current crop of candidates that we have at our disposal. They refuse to discuss the destruction of our Constitution and the expansion of our $9.3 trillion dollar federal deficit.
The fact is, neither John McCain, nor Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton have a firm understanding of the issue of illegal immigration. The majority of illegal immigrants do not want amnesty, nor citizenship. Most work in the United States doing menial jobs in an effort to send much-needed money back to their families in Mexico. This issue deserves much greater focus on the true cause of illegal immigration, not fluffy rhetoric specially crafted to court the votes of those very same people.
CNN.com’s politics page highlighted McCain’s new Spanish-language web site as their top news story. Matt Drudge slapped a link at the very top of his page as well. Perhaps I will never know how the launch of a web site somehow qualifies as top news, but one thing I know for sure: what more do you expect?
