Highlights of proposed Iraq war funding bill
By: News Bites | Submitted on: 05/07/08(SGT NEWS BITE) - The House could vote as early as Thursday on a $195 billion Democratic bill to fund military and diplomatic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan into next spring. Lawmakers will cast separate votes on three components: war funding, Iraq war policy restrictions, and unrelated domestic add-ons.
The proposed spending includes:
—$163 billion to pay for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan for the rest of this year and several months into 2009, when the new president will take over responsibility for the two wars.
